Military Dad Surprises Daughter at Spelling Bee Following She Spells ‘Sergeant’

WelcomeHomeBlog.com – Military reunion videos, images & stories! A spelling bee at a Boca Raton elementary school was in fact a ruse for 9-year-old Skylar Johnson. Skylar’s father, Staff Sgt. Therron Johnson, had been on tour in Iraq considering that last Christmas. But Friday, he was waiting to surprise her throughout the spelling bee. While Skylar was on stage spelling the word “Sergeant,” the principal asked if she knows any sergeants. As soon as Skyler answered, “my dad,” Staff Sgt. Johnson produced his entrance. Skylar is totally stunned and in tears at the sight of her father, a man she hasn’t observed in eight months. Regrettably, Johnson is only property for nine days. But all that matters to Skylar is right now.

These men are out there to serve their country, to risk their lives to keep everybody back home happy. I cried just like that little girl has. It is so sad to lose a good man, a father to such a beautiful kid to a stupid war. Thank you stupid Bush for destroying America you SOB. Middle finger to Obama for continuing the very same job.
